Info

In 1981, a group of international parents started the American School of Bombay with 12 students in a room at the American Consulate. The idea was to offer an educational program that would help students make an easy transition from one international school to another. As the school grew, it moved from the American Consulate to nearby residential apartments. In November 1998, the school moved to its current campus in Bandra, a Mumbai suburb. More...

My husband and I moved from Potomac, Maryland in August this year with our 10 year old triplets and have settled in beautifully and faster mainly due to the ASB school. Our kids rated this school 11 out of a 1-10 ranking:) thanks to the wonderful staff and employees who make the difference.

My children spent 3 years at ASB from 2008 ? 2011, one in Elementary, and the other in Middle School. Their years there were very happy, and full of positive growth. ASB is a learning-focused school ? that may seem like an obvious thing, but it is actually quite profound. Everyone in the school is engaged in, and committed to learning, including the faculty and staff, administration, board, and parents. The intense integration of technology is not about the equipment and tools, but about how they can be harnessed to enhance student learning. The dynamism of school attracts engaging, creative, high quality teachers ? and this is what makes a school great. Most importantly, while offering a very engaging and challenging curriculum, the focus is always on the learner. The school takes its mission ? to inspire students to pursue their dreams (whatever they may be) ? deeply to heart. It offers strong Music, Art, Drama, and Physical Education programs in addition to strong core academics; and athletes from Middle School and up are given opportunities to pursue a variety of sports and compete throughout the year. ASB also has a deep focus on ?enhancing the lives of others? ? another element of its mission. The school promotes an ethic of service, and students are given many opportunities to experience India in a deep and meaningful way through its Week Without Walls programs, and through partnership with local organizations and opportunities to serve integrated throughout the curriculum. ASB does a great job of welcoming new families and offers many ways for parents to get involved in programs, take courses to better understand the technology their kids are using, and be active members of the school community. Our years at ASB have had a strong impact on my children and on my husband and I, and we feel very fortunate to have been part of the ASB community ? we still feel part of it today.

My family relocated to Mumbai from Cincinnati, Ohio in January 2011. We were all very cautiously optimistic about the opportunity that our whole family would have to experience a new culture. My first week at ASB showed me that we had made a great choice. ASB quickly became our 2nd home. The sense of community, love and pride in the school is nothing like I've ever experienced. The leadership at the school, from the Superintendent, down to the Assistant Teachers, is world class. They have the best trained, most highly qualified staff as any school in the World. As I now prepare to leave Mumbai to return to the US- the main thing that we are all sad about is that fact that we have to leave ASB. The friends we have made have become our family. The life skills and educational tools my children have attained are priceless. And the opportunity to volunteer at the school in the PTA has been an amazing experience for me. I can't imagine a better place for my family to have called home for the last 3.5 years. ASB I will miss you. Karyn Frost

I have been a parent at the American School of Bombay for the last 5 years and our family has had a great experience. We relocated to Mumbai from New York. I love that the school is truly international...there are over 50 nationalities represented in the student body. The teachers are amazing, many of them having been actively recruited with experience teaching in some of the best international schools across the globe. At the beginning of last year, the elementary school students moved to a new campus which is 10 minutes further away from where we live than the old campus at BKC (which is now only for grades 6 thru 12). Still, it is totally worth it, as the new classroom spaces are fantastic and designed to support 21st century learning. When it is time for us to leave Mumbai, our family will truly miss this school. A wonderful community to be a part of!

I have had nothing but positive experiences at the American School of Bombay. The ASB provides many activities during and after school not only for the students but also for their parents. While the school takes a good care of the children, it also takes care of the parents and understands that the parents also need a support system. The ASB offers a helpful network and support system for the parents to make their lives easier in Mumbai. Thanks to the American School, our transition to our life in Mumbai has been smooth. Our children are very happy at the American School and I owe it to the great teachers and the team of staff and the fellow students. I find it such a blessing as a parent to see them enjoy their school.
